Gift ideas for the kinksters in your life

If you’re kinky, chances are you know a lot of other kinky people too, be they partners or friends or just acquaintances. And around this time of year, gift-giving is as much in the air as the cold. These people in your life are important to you, and you want to show them so.

For partners, you might have a good idea already of what they want or what they’d appreciate, but what about the people you don’t know quite so intimately?

I was pondering this myself and came up with a few kink-specific gift ideas to share. This list isn’t exhaustive by any means, but it’s a good place to start—and maybe it’ll get your own ideas flowing!

Ready? Let’s get a little kinky.

Newbies and the Curious: Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns
This guide to S&M by Phillip Miller and Molly Devon is a classic. Published in 1995, it’s pretty dated now—especially that list of additional resources at the end, whew—but it’s still chock-full of information about common BDSM practices, making it an excellent introduction for people who are just starting to dip their toes into the world of kink. Alternately, you could go for SM 101: A Realistic Introduction by Jay Wiseman.

50 Shades Fans: The Big Book of Submission, Volume 2
Although similar to newbies and the curious, fans of the 50 Shades series might not be ready to dip their toes in yet. They’re still exploring their interests in strictly fictional contexts. This anthology of sixty-nine erotic short stories, edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel, is focused on submission in all the forms it can take. If you have even a cursory interest in BDSM, there’s something for everyone here—and, bonus, one of the stories is mine! Alternately, gift them the short story behind the movie Secretary in Mary Gaitskill’s anthology Bad Behavior: Stories.

Foot Fetishists: Earth Therapeutics Foot Therapy Kit
Honestly, even if you don’t have a fetish, foot therapy kits are awesome. Earth Therapeutics’ foot scrub and foot balm soothe sore, overworked feet and leave them clean and pleasantly tingly. The added pumice stone, massager, and brush help remove dry, dead skin and callouses and make soles, heels, and toes smooth and pretty. Whether your fetishist likes to worship feet or be worshiped, a foot kit like this one has a lot of potential. Alternately, opt for a more tool-based pedicure set like this one.

Bondage: Art/Photo Prints on Etsy
If you know someone with a love of shibari, leather harnesses, or another form of restraints, there’s a good chance they don’t need or want equipment they haven’t vetted and picked out themselves. So I’d recommend going a little more artistic for your gift. There are tons of breathtaking bondage artwork and erotic photography on Etsy that any bondage enthusiast would be happy to own and display. A couple that I quite like are here and here. Do a search and see what you come up with!

Impact Play: Six Scroll Hook Rack
Like with bondage, I suspect fans of floggers, crops, and whips might be more interested in picking out their own equipment. (Or, at least, I know I would be!) An alternative is something they can use to store and display their toys. This rack is the one that I’ve personally used for years. Not only does hanging up implements like floggers keep them in better condition, but it looks gorgeous on your wall too. And if you have someone coming over who doesn’t need to know about your kink? Just use your coats and jackets to hide the evidence. Alternately, you could go for individual hooks instead.

Crossdressing/Feminization/Sissification: ColourPop Wicked Trick Lip Bundle
In all fairness, lip products have dozens of possible uses in a kink scenario, but tarting up submissive cis men is a favorite of mine. ColourPop is an awesome company because their products are 1) inexpensive and 2) good quality. Their liquid lips in particular tend to work well for sexy purposes because they go on easily and stay put. Alternately, try a matte lip from Lime Crime, like this set.

Femdom: “The Future Is Femdom” Accent Mug
If you’ve got a tea- or coffee-drinking Domme on your list this year, this mug makes a great gift. And if you’ve got a Domme who doesn’t drink tea or coffee on your list, you can also get a tote, sticker, tumbler, or shirt with the same message. The Future Is Femdom…we can hope, right? Alternately, this “Mistress” tank top from the same online shop is A+.

Monsterfuckers: Smut Peddler Presents: My Monster Boyfriend
Teratophilia is on the rise lately thanks to the popularity of media like The Shape of Water, not to mention toy companies like Bad Dragon. If you know a self-identified monsterfucker, this erotic comics anthology edited by C. Spike Trotman and published by Iron Circus Comics would make a great gift. Ten beautifully illustrated stories of monster sex—what more could a monster fetishist want? Alternately, try Like a Breath of Flame: Erotic Tales of Dragons for a prose-only option.

General Kink and Everything Else: Gift Cards
Does anyone actually dislike gift cards? Some people (like me!) prefer them. So if you’ve got someone on your list who’s hard to buy for, make it easy on yourself by letting them choose what to buy. Some places I like to shop for kink supplies include SheVibe, Babeland, Extreme Restraints, Lovehoney, and Stockroom.
